A lush, full-bodied black Assam is blended with white chocolate, caramel, and a heady blend of spices from the Malabar Coast including ginger, cardamom, coriander, cinnamon, cloves, and black pepper. Finally, calendula petals and elder blossoms were added to give the tea a rich colour. The result is an intoxicating flavour with spicy overtones and a warm belgian chocolate finish. Chai is the generic word for tea in much of the world, but for many English speakers outside those regions, particularly in the Western hemisphere, "chai" automatically implies "masala chai", or 'spiced tea'.
